FUND DESCRIPTION

The Partnership for Cures (PFC) Two Years To Cures Fund is a five year $5,000,000 closed end “philanthropic investment” fund created to support medical research projects that can have a direct impact on patients with disease right now. Projects will be inspired, validated, and managed for funders at top research institutions by PFC staff in four areas of research:

ORPHAN DISEASE INITIATIVE
Finds translational treatments and cures for diseases affecting 200,000 or fewer U.S. patients.

AUTOIMMUNE INITIATIVE
Finds better treatments and cures that can have a wide impact on autoimmune diseases, such as diabetes, ALS, MS, and autism.

QUALITY OF LIFE INITIATIVE
Finds ways to reduce side effects, cost, stress, time spans, and improve quality of life for patients and their loved ones in a wide variety of diseases, including cancer.

INTERNATIONAL INITIATIVE
Find better treatments for international diseases and scientifically tests treatments with good anecdotal or historical results from eastern and other non-US medicine.

FUND CREATION AND STRATEGY

The Fund will have a minimum donation of $5000. All donations are made to Partnership for Cures, a 501c3 public charity and are fully deductible as the law allows. Philanthropists “investing” in the Fund will not receive any financial return, but will expect a significant emotional, participatory and social return.

Twenty-five percent (25%) of the total commitment from each philanthropist will be due upon participation in the Fund, and then quarterly payments to the Fund will be made to fund projects as they progress. Philanthropists are welcome to make a larger part of their contribution up front if that financially desirable for them.

“Investment” in the fund entitles a philanthropist to a seat on the Two Year To Cures Fund Board and a pro rata number of votes based on the amount of his or her donation. This Board is responsible for the ranking the most promising research once it has been located and validated by the PFC staff and independent scientist reviewers.

Projects in the fund will range in cost from $35,000-500,000 and will have completion dates within 24 months of initiation with an outcome that could have a direct impact on patients. It is expected that approximately 15-20 projects will be included in this fund, and will begin in stages as early as 6 months from the commencement of the Fund.

PFC staff and independent scientists managed by PFC staff will locate the projects at top institutions such as Mayo Clinic, Harvard Medical School, Stanford University and University of Chicago, validate them to determine that they have a chance to reach their projected outcome, create a Research Roadmap™ business plan for each project with quarterly aims and goals, secure leveraged funding from the institution supporting the research, manage the projects on a quarterly basis, and distribute the quarterly reports to “investors”.
