Patient Impact Initiative Projects

Rediscovery Researchâ„¢ at work!

Check out this very cool Rediscovery Research project for diabetes that will test whether pet ownership will help children with newly diagnosed diabetes do a better job of managing their condition. Japanese_fighting_fish.jpg

The idea is that kids who get this disease are suddenly required to take on "adult like" management of a very complex condition.  Having a pet, like an awesome Japanese Fighting Fish, can teach kids the kind of adult responsibility that will translate into better self care.

This is a fun, safe and inexpensive way to improve health and reduce healthcare costs. The total cost for this human clinical trial that will involve 80 kids is only $13,000, and we will know the results in less than a year!

Maybe your class, school or scout troop could help us raise money.  If this works, any kid who has diabetes (and probably a lot of other childhood diseases!) might feel a lot better just from owning a fish!

If you are interested in helping, just give us a call at 312-696-1366 or send us an e-mail to support@4cures.org.  THANK YOU!
